If you're unfamiliar with battle royale games, the premise is simple: 100 players are dropped into an arena with only the clothes on their backs and must scavenge for weapons and supplies while fighting to be the last person standing. The Callisto Protocol takes place on an abandoned space station, which adds a bit of flavor to the proceedings. There are plenty of dark corners to hide in and plenty of vertigo-inducing drops that can prove fatal if you're not careful.
When you first start the game, you'll be asked to choose one of three character classes: Engineer, Chief Scientist, or Security Officer. Each class has its own unique abilities that can be used to give your team an edge in combat or help you survive when things get tough. After choosing your class, you'll be placed into a squad of four players and given a set objective to complete before the timer runs out.
